Enamel recontouring (enameloplasty) is cosmetic dentistry at its most minimal: the dentist polishes away fractions of a millimetre of enamel to smooth small irregularities, a point that catches the light, an edge that sits slightly off the line.
It's quick, typically painless, and often needs no anaesthetic. The catch is that it's subtractive and permanent, and it only works within the enamel's thickness, which is why the assessment matters more than the procedure.
The honest limits of this preview
