The masseters are the strong chewing muscles at the angle of the jaw. In people who clench or grind, they can enlarge enough to widen the lower face. Botulinum toxin type A injections, commonly searched as masseter Botox®, relax and gradually slim the muscle, and many practices offer this alongside treatment for clenching, grinding and jaw tension. Which product a practice uses is its own clinical choice; several brands of botulinum toxin type A are in common use.
This is the slowest-moving treatment on this page: the slimming effect builds over roughly two to three months as the muscle reduces, and it maintains with repeat treatment. The change is a gentler taper at the jaw angles, not a different face shape.
